I was told at the SW2007 rollout that XP Professional was the
only OS that would be supported with 2007 (i.e. no XP Home
Edition).
However on my newer Dell Systems I have XP Media Center...
which Dell claims is XP Professional with extra bells and whistles
that run the different multi-media hardware added to these systems.
In fact they say that trying to load XP Professional with a clean
install will make some of the hardware not work properly.
I purchased a XP Professional upgrade and it won't even let
me install it (i.e. the upgrade package was to upgrade from
Millenium, 2000, Home Edition, etc. but it DOES NOT mention Media
Center).
Is Media Center a "hybrid" of Professional and is it
"supported" operating system for SW 2007?
If you look up XP Media Center on the Microsoft website it
basically explains that Media Center is a version of XP only load
by computer manufacturers (like Dell, Gateway, etc.) and is not
something you can purchase.
Bottom line can I use SW2007 with my Windows XP Media Center
OS?
