Why wont cavity tool not let me keep/discard bodies after use?

Hi,

 

I am currently making a tool mold for a part.

For some reason when I use the cavity tool in SW after drawing out my sketch and extruding upwards through the part it wont let me keep or discard bodies.

 

Normally when you click ok on the cavity tool button a pop-up box appears and asks wether you want to keep both bodies or get rid of one/ keep selected etc.

For some reason, when I use cavity tool on this it wont do this. I can see the split in the cavity but just dont know how I can get rid of the top on (thinner one).

Would be greatful for any help on this, slighlty puzzled.

Correct Answer

You need all the parts in the assembly together in order to know how it is mated.

But to answer your question. the part is still atached by the hole in the middle.

Do a cut between them and it will work
