HI I AM A STUDENT FROM BOURNMOUTH UNIVERSITY, I HAVE JUST STARTED A PLACEMENT AT A PLASTIC VACUUM FORMING COMPANY IN GLOUCESTERSHIRE, UK AND I HAVE BEEN GIVEN A PART FILE FROM A COMPANY WHO WANT TOOLING/MOLD TO BE MADE FROM THE PART GIVEN.

I DONT REALLY KNOW HOW TO MAKE AN EXACT MODEL OF THE PART/TOOL BECAUSE THEY HAVNT GIVEN ME ENOUGH DIMENSIONS ETC. I AM JUST WONDERING IF THERE IS A QUICK SIMPLE WAY IN WHICH I COULD CREATE A MOLD FROM THE PART THEY HAVE GIVEN ME.

OBVIOUSLY WHEN I OPEN THE ZIP FILE WITH SOLIDWORKS IT COMES UP AS AN IMPORTED PART AND DOES NOT GIVE ALL THE USUAL MODEL MAKING FEATURES (FILLETS, BOSS EXTRUDES ETC) AND SO I DONT KNOW HOW I CAN MAKE THE TOOL FROM THIS WITHOUT SUFFICIENT INFORMATION, I AM SURE THERE IS SOMEONE OUT THERE WITH MORE EXPERIENCE THAN ME WITH REGARDS TO CREATING A TOOLING/MOLD FROM A SIMPLE PART FILE.

I HAVE ATTACHED THE .IGS FILE AND WOULD BE VERY GREATFUL FOR AN ANSWER OR ANY HELP YOU COULD GIVE ME ABOUT THIS.

CHEERS,
