In modo 4.01 and later there is a "Shadow Catcher" setting for the alpha channel, which will along you to have an appearance on a model it does not render but just the shadows that are cast upon it. This is great for compositing products over the top of background plates.

Is it possilbe I'm missing a preset that we have already? If not, could someone with Modo (Rod R. I know you have it, and I think Ann does too) create the asset and get it to the Product team so we could use it in 2013 going forward.
