This is just a guess, as I have no experience with the topic. I think that it depends upon what type of extrusion you are talking about. For plastics or metal extrusion where you are extruding a semi-liquid material, I don't think it would work well at all. I don't think it would work well for extruding solids where you have very large deformations that would force you to remesh the material repeatedly, like an Aluminum beverage can. It might work for drawing a wire, where the deformations aren't too large.
