I keep getting asked whether or not I want to open PDF files when I want to preview them in the preview pane in EPDM. I am pretty sure this is a windows security issue and not a EPDM bug. Anybody know what the solution is?
You might try disableing FoxIt as a troubleshooting test, also would you review KB Solution S-049143 and let us know if it made a difference?
What happens when you double click on pdf file.Does it open Internet Explorer?
Try installing Adobe Reader.
Adobe is installed. When I double click on the file, it opens in Adobe.
I do have something called Foxit preview handler installed. I wonder if this could be the culprit. It is a nice program to have though, because it allows me to preview PDF file in windows explorer outside of EPDM. So I don't want to uninstall it.
I uninstalled the foxit reader and then reinstalled it. When I reinstalled, I chose Custom Installation, and unchecked Shell Extensions.
I also disabled "Safe reading mode" which was an option that came up later in the installation.
That seems to have solved the problem. Now I can preview PDFs in EPDM, in windows explorer outside of EPDM using the preview pane. And the PDF files even have an icon image when choosing Medium icons in windows explorer outside of EPDM! I haven't been this happy with PDFs since the 32 bit XP era.
