I have an assembly of about 70 parts and 5 sub-assemblies.
I am trying to save it as a STEP file.
After it saves I try to open it, but when the file opens it's blank. Nothing in the tree and nothing on the screen.
Is the assembly too large?
Try saving it as a part first then as a step file and see if that works.
Ok. I saved as a part, but lost all the patterned components.
I tried to save the part (still missing all patterned components) as STEP, but computer locked-up and had to restart.
In the dialog window that you get when you go to save it as a step file there is an options button. When you select that are the
correct options checked/unchecked giving you what you would expect to get?
This isn't a size issue, we regularly save files step with 500+ files over a gig. What is the size of the file when saved as step? Do you have alot of surfaces? We regularly have surfaces disapear/go crazy when saved to step.
BTW for anyone that regularly transfers large step files, zipping is very effective (4x+ compression ratio).
RE. this isn't a size issue..
This statement is true.
I deleted many components from the assembly to decrease size and still the same result.
