No Penetration Contact type clarification

Hi all,

Can anyone clarify the statement made in the following section of SW Help?

Simulation > Meshing > Meshing with Contact > Component Contact

  • No Penetration

Selected components or bodies do not penetrate each other during simulation, regardless of their initial contact condition. By default, bodies do not penetrate themselves if the deformation during simulation is sufficient to cause self-intersection. Surface to surface contact formulation is applied for No Penetration contact.

"By default, bodies do not penetrate themselves if the deformation during simulation is sufficient to cause self-intersection"

I am evaluating an assy and expect relatively large amounts of deformation due to the different CTE's (.0002/deg C versus .000024/deg C)

I have created contact sets between the two mismatch CTE components that are no penetration contacts.  My study is taking much longer than expected.

Thanks,

Mike
