Personally, I wouldn't store them in the default directory. You can add folders to Options > System Options > File Locations > Weldment Profiles. I add all custom bits in this way, it helps prevent accidental loss when re-instaaling / updating. Once you'ce added everything you want, run the copy settings wizard to save your profile. Then whenever you re-install, upgrade machines or whatever you can restore your profile, re-linking all your custom additions.
Dear Jeff,
You Can Also Add your extracted zip folder in weldment profile by 2 ways
1 . file locations in option it dosent matter where your folder is saved.
but
2. default location for weldment profile in solidworks is
C:\Program Files\SolidWorks Corp\SolidWorks\lang\english\weldment profiles
you can go to this location and add your copy your folder
i am also sending you the image file how you can add folder through file locations in by option
below images are if you dont want to add your folder manually you can just add the downloaded extracted folder by browsing it in weldment profiles through file location
2 step is tht you directly add your folder to default location C:\Program Files\SolidWorks Corp\SolidWorks\lang\english\weldment profiles but if your pc is formated then you will loose this data .
so best way is you follow images save your folder in any other partition and just add the path from options- file locations - weldment profiles and just select the extracted folder
