I have been having problems with design tables when I add pictures with dimension labels. Is this an inherent problem with solidworks or has a work around been found?
I don't know if that is a general bug or specific to your machine. Although the DT is an Excel spreadsheet & should theoretically be capable of such, I would not use the OLE function in a DT.
You could use the Design Binder to store or link such images.
You could also rename the dimensions, and use the View > Dimension Names to display them.
Not quite sure what you are asking.
Are you adding the picture to the actual DT, or trying to control the dimensions of a picture in the model with the DT?
I am not trying to control the design table from the dimensions on the picture. I simply want to add a picture with labels to show my design intent. For example, if I have a model of a desk and I want to have a diminsion called "Height" then I show on the picture of the desk specifically what "Height" controlls.
A couple of times I have added such a picture with a few dimension lables created from the drawing tools in excel. After closing excel and updating, the excel file becomes corrupt and I lose the entire design table. I do not know if this is an inherent bug or if there is a work around.
For anyone else that comes across this issue, you can put your image on a second sheet in Excel and still have a working design table.
