I am having a problem / hard time mating these red tiles along the path of this helix/spiral.
can any of you guys help me?

Are they helically created parts themselves? The easiest approximation would likely be to constrain 2 of the corners on the helix edge and the 3rd on the OD surface.
Or (likely easier) define that central axis in your red tile part so you mate the two axes and then restrain one tile to the previous one at the mating corner.

curve driven works on a helix? I didn't want to suggest this having never tried it myself
curve driven pattern is not available for selection in assemblies.
well if you have the first component mated the way you like, you can just use "copy with mates"
a better option would be to make a feature driven pattern (have to check that one out yourself... assemblies don't have the same patterning options as parts)
A feature driven pattern would only work if there was a pattern of some sort following the helix in the part already.
There is no curve driven pattern in an assembly so you'd want to do that in the part with some form of reference geometry then feature driven pattern the tiles in the assembly from the curve driven pattern in the part.
yup, that is what I was talking about. You'll basicially create a dummy part that has the curve driven pattern you want with a feature, then use that pattern as your feature driven pattern in the assembly.
