I have been asked to find the weight of an assembly, all the parts have been allocated 304 aisi material.
Can solidworks calculated the assembled weight and if so how do i find this.
With the assembly open, go to the Evaluate tab at the top of your screen and choose Mass Properties.
If you want to calc. the mass of 2 or more parts in an assembly SW can't calculate?
Any work around?

Yes, it can. Go to Mass Properties, like I showed above, then go to Selected items at the top. The name of the assembly will be in the box. RMB on it and choose Clear selections, select the parts you want, then hit the Recalculate button at the top right.
When i do that i get this message:
Do you have material properties assigned to all of your parts?
yes, the whole assy i can calculate, 1 part also, but 2 or more dont
I don't know why it would do that. Maybe send it to your VAR and see if they can help?
Are you selecting recalculate each time you add parts, it works for me.
recalculate doesn't work
I have had this problem before also, have you found a solution or something that would be causing this?
Our company has the same problem with both solidworks 2012 and 2013.
The only solution we can find for the moment is to combine the components into a temporary subassembly, or suppress all other items and calculate the full assembly.
