Can SolidWorks and Inventor coexist?

All:  We're nominally an AutoDesk Inventor shop, but we also keep SolidWorks for those clients who request it.  Since the first SW project began, we've had lots of wonky behavior from both software packages, more so from SolidWorks.  As the first SW project began at the same time I started here, I can't say if the strangeness in Inventor preceded the installation of SW.  What I'm wondering is, are these two like siblings, i.e., they just CAN'T get along?  Does anyone else have both on the same machine and use them both (literally) at the same time?  If so, do you have instability problems with the software?  Just trying to find a way to keep 'em both running....  Thanx.
