version 2012 SP 3.0 My tips of the day are not working. The light bulb lights but the tip does not change when I click on it. How can I resolve this issue.
Its possible that you've reached the end of the tips. What tip is currently showing? The last tip is:
"Arrow keys rotate the model. Ctrl + Arrow keys pang the model. Alt + Arrow Keys rotate the model clockwise and counterclockwise."
Kelvin's suggestion above will restart the tips at the beginning. My recollection was that the tips should automatically start over again at #1, but I just tested this and it stops at #187.
If this is not the case, can you test some of the other buttons shown within the task pane to see if they work correctly (ie: "New Document", "Open Document", etc.)? If these don't work, then it would point to a problem with the swHtmlControl which may not have been registered correctly when you installed SP3.
Is this what you are talking about?
No. I tried this help section. I am referrring to tip of the day that appears in the lower left. Before a recent upgrade to 2012 I was able to click thru many different tips which I found helpful
I assume you are clicking on the Next Tip text in the lower right of the Tip of the Day? You can't just click anywhere on the tip, it has to be on that text. In your posting, you just say click on "it" so I just want to make sure.
Jim--I'm in the same boat as Bill. SW 2012 Sp.3 The light bulb is on with the same tip for several days. Click on "Next Tip" and it doesn't change. That's too bad. I've found some good stuff in there--Glen
With SW closed, try going to Start > Run, type regedit and hit OK, then browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > SolidWorks & rename the TipOfDay key to TipOfDayOLD and close the registry editor. When a new session of SW is started, the key will be rebuilt. If that works, go back into the registry & delete theTipOfDayOLD key.
It works. Thanks Kelvin--Glen
I'm seeing the same problem when the "Arrow keys rotate the model. Ctrl + Arrow keys pang the model. Alt + Arrow Keys rotate the model clockwise and counterclockwise." tip is reached.
All other Task Pane buttons appear to work correctly.
OK, thanks for confirming.
Having the Tips restart at #1 would be good, but having a Previous Tip button would also be helpful.
