    Apply a Displacement to a surface/edge vs. a force

    Roger Wyman

I am conducting an experiment to calculate the stress of a part with a known displacment applied.

Is there a way to apply an amount of displacement to the geometry and conducting the stress analysis vs. a force?  I do not see such an option shown is the external load section.

Hi Roger: yes, you probably already figured this out. Just apply a "Fixture" condition of non-zero amount to an edge or a face of geometry. No need to apply a force or pressure. Then hit "run".

When it's done, query the "Results" folder for Reactions, and you can click on the enforced displacement geometry and it should report the reaction force to you. I hope this helps. Sincerely, Tony
