Weldment Recommendation

Okay, so this is not really a SW question...but...is there anyone out there who has much experience with welded frames?  I'm wondering whether it's okay to have a welded frame in which one of the beams sits across two of the other beams which make the vertex (see "Weldment,-Across-Body" image below).  Or, is it much preferable for a welder to make all beams contacting only one of the other beams that makes the vertex (see "Weldment,-On-Body" image below).  I'd like to do the -across body version, but am unsure if this is very difficult from a mfg standpoint...it seems like it might be since you need to hold two beams relative to the third being welded as opposed to only one if you did the -on body version.
