In 2012, SP1, I looked under tools>component selection, on the standard toolbar and in the cutomize menu dialog, and I cannot find the power select tool. Is it only available if I have Toolbox or some other add-in?
No we only have Standard. Isn't there a profile setting or something so that when I run HELP searches it filters out what I don't have? Got me all excited there for a minute...
Thanks for your time.
Welcome to SolidWorks forums Scott.
Make sure you have Utilities selected under Tools > Add in.
BTW I guess you need to use Advanced Select under Tools > Component Selection, .

Hmm, interesting. I have no "utilities" listed under Tools > Add-in, I only have Autotrace, Part Reviewer and XPS driver. Also, under
Advanced Select under Tools > Component Selection, there are only dialog boxes for doing searches. What am I missing?
Seems like you've SolidWorks Plain/Standard version installed.
For using Advanced Select you need to Define Search Criteria
What version do I need to get?
In case you need Power Select, you must have SolidWorks Professional or Premium version installed.
Any chance you running a network license? If yes then check if you have the license for Professional or Premium
