did you try the iges file?
I should have mentioned that. The iges file has no issues. I even tried downloading the stp file a second time. This is more a point of curiosity to me sionce I have a work around.
John, I had a very similar problem with Molex and other vendor-originated step files. The import went fine, but when I attempte to save the files I got an error. I filed an support request with my var about the issue. They couldn't reproduce it on their end and issued me SR #:1-2513187231 and escalated it to Solidworks Corp.
Here are some intereseting things that we discovered about the problem in the course of our investigation
1) if you create a new part from a template and import the step file using the 'import geometry' command, there aren't any problems saving the file.
2) If I log in under a different user profile, I don't have the problem. That's a good indicator that my Windows profile has become corrupted
3) The problem doesn't occur with SAT or IGES or other import formats
4) I don't have the problem with step files that were originally exported from solidworks.
I had the same issue, Caddedge support solved the issue by having me uncheck in the STEP options "Map configuration data".
Go to "Open part file"
Change file type to STEP/STP
Pick "options" at bottom
Uncheck where it notes "STEP" map configuration data.
That works. I wonder why?
I've been fighting bizarre issues with STEP files all week. Very frustrating.
