I'm new to importing dxf's to solidworks. How does one create a 3d part using this dxf? Seems I'm having issues with placing the views in the wrong orientation or something. Any guidance would be appreciated.
Welcome to the forum.
What I would do is start a new part file. Then insert your dxf file onto a plane using this command.
Then use this sketch portion as your profile.
on one plane.
Then insert the sketch again and use this one as your guide curve.
making sure that the profile is constrained to the guide curve. The use the sweep command
to make the geometry.
Hope this helps you.
Thanks for the reply but the front face now seems to be an issue. It has a lot of detail and this is what customer requires.
What is the issue you are having?
As far as the logo you can place a plane accross the front then protrude it from there.
Can you post what you have to this point?
Was working on different way before you replied and this is where I am.
Wheres my insert file??
Now I cant make it into a sheet metal part!!!
I am not surprised that you can't make it a sheet metal part anymore.
What you are trying to do is not sheet metal functionality.
Will start again. Again TY for your input
This should be easier but this is as far as I can get
Finally got it but sheet metal seems to be tricky now!
I am glad that you got it to work. I have experienced where if you add features that are not
sheet metal features you have to do some finagiling to get it to work.
I can't open your file, because I don't have 2012.
