I'm looking for guidance and advice on building a new computer. My use is machine design, generally simple prismatic parts, though customer's reference workpieces can be quite complex. Assemblies don't often exceed 500-1000 parts. No need for pretty graphics. I'm leaning toward X79 motherboards with 8 memory slots. Though I'm sure 16GB RAM would be plenty, 8x4GB is only $100 more than 4x4.
Less RAM, but add an SSD?
Suggestions on alternative to the ASRock MB? (I've had some bad experience with Asus, but don't have my heels dug in.)
Anything else on the list below that doesn't make sense to folks?
If someone will tell me how to insert the Newegg Wishlist view with live links that I see in other posts, I'll do that.
