Why do I not see get write access under the File menu?

If you are talking about within your PDM vault it is based on the permissions that have been setup for your login.
The main File pulldown menu. I have read write access. I have seen this before on different computers and can not find out why this happens.
Are you talking about the file menu within the vault? Because this is the category you have this thread under.
Have you tried shutting down the service, restarting the vault and/or validating the vault?
In Workgroup you do not "get write access" you "take ownership".
From the file menu in Solidworks. File/Get Write Access
turn on the following option;
Add shortcut menu ...
However, if using PDMW this option is not used.
