Is there anyway that the k-factor for sheet metal will automatically insert when you insert a flat pattern or a way of linking this k-factor to a note?
Attached is a screenshot of what I am talking about.
Thanks for your help
Brian, I would probably do as Michael suggested, you can set your part templates to have these properties by default (it is not necessary to have the last bit of the link - @part_name.sldprt).
I took a few screenshots to help you out:
You can also do as Alin suggested, and edit the Text deleting the entries that you don't really need...
Hope this helps,
In the part properties set up a Property Name K-Factor and in the text/value D2@Sheet-Metal1
On the drawing create a link to the property and there you go
And if you need more information you can insert it in a couple of clicks.
Just CLICK HERE or on the picture below for more info.
Roll on SW2012 SP3 and let me update
Excellent, Michael. SP3.0 EV is out and the full 3.0 is just around the corner.
I typed this into the values but in the pull downin the properties it is not linking
Just noticed the text has lost the quote marks
SW keeps trying to make the text a link
I want it to link to the D2@sheet-metal1 without typing the value like the weight is done. Is there a way to do this? I know I can link it but do not want to type it in the value box.
I am guessing that weight is showing up on your drawing as the drawing template will have the link setup.
You can make a new drawing template with a property link to show the k factor, that will then show the k factor everytime you use that drawing template
Brian, yes you can do this by activating the value field, and then selecting the dimension in the graphics area. See my reply below for the step by step procedure.
