Hello!
I am a student who is rather new to SolidWorks. My Master's thesis requires me to analyze in WAMIT a 3D model that was originally drawn in AutoCAD. Since the model as of now is too complex for the calculations to be completed within any reasonable amount of time, I started working on simplifying it in SolidWorks. However, I've hit a few snugs. To be more precise, the model assembly consits of several parts, one of which is a structure consistng of many beams, plates, cylinders and two complex surface meshes. Any attempt to utilize FeatureWorks results in failure due to the following error: "Part contains overlapping solids. FeatureWorks cannot proceed further." It is impossible to know exactly how many parts overlap and where. Dissecting the model manually is too time-consuming, and only revelas one overlap at a time.
Thus, I am wondering if there exist any tools (that have eluded me), or plugins that could be used to analyze the whole part and find any overlaps in the geometry. Both "Check" and "Geometry Analysis" produce no results.
Thanks in advance.
