hi, i created a product with surfaces and now that im doing the drawing file i dont see anything , how can i solve this problem ?.
i made an assemnle with a part that i extrude and i can see the part but not the surface.
The drawing file does not show the geometry in the drawing file because the surfaces need to be imported into the model view of the drawing.
From the Insert pull-down menu, select Model Items, in the Insert Model Property Manager dialog, go to the Reference Geometry section and select the Surfaces button, Click OK. All surfaces should now appear in the drawing view. This is normal behavior as surfaces are classed as reference geometry.
I have an guardrail assembly with an internal part consisting of a surface on my top plane to show the ground line. It showed up fine in the elevation view on my drawing without any special action on my part, but I can't get it to show up in a section view. I tried the method you outlined but didn't have any luck. Any ideas?
Glen, this is a limitation of SolidWorks at this time. There are a few ERs open and you can vote on them or, even better, create new ones with these keywords: section view surface body.
For the time being just thicken that surface a bit (turn it into a solid) and you will be able to see the ground in your section views. But you knew that...
I tried one of the links you posted, but it said access was denied. Don't know why, we've been back on subscription since December.
I didn't think about thickening it; I don't work with surfaces much, but it worked like a charm.
Glen, ignore the links. They should not work for you, since are coming from my own Customer Portal. You can vote on them (search for the numbers) using your own Customer Portal Account.
Even better, create new ERs with the same keywords. Ask your friends to do the same...
