does it exist? there is a mid plane option for the extrtude itself, but im wanting it for the thickness.
if not, just wondering why its not an option
The majority of formed SM parts require inside and/or outside dimensional control. Having a mid-plane option would make the sketch profile much more complicated.
You are correct, there is no option for the thickness at mid plane for sheet metal.
Why do you need this option?
i was inserting a new part @ assembly, the original part was all designed from a center line running through the middle of the part. it was an easy fix, just had to change a couple midpoint relations to coincident, but was just wondering why this wasnt an option.
With the new Reference Plane Manager it is now very easy to insert a mid-plane which could in turn be used when mating parts.
this is very true, i was just modeling from the midplane on the part because thats how it was done on the sketch that was handed to me. so once i got it all defined and what not, i went back and slightly modified the sketch to make it work.
ah yes, i didnt about it like that.
thanks for clearing that up, makes perfect sense
Another alternative solution.......
Create your part the "traditional" way using your mid plane extrusion and then convert it to sheet metal.
