Transparency problem

I really goofed something up in transparency settings a couple hours ago and have no idea how I did it or how to fix it. I am editing parts in an assembly. I have options set to opaque. When I start the edit part process everything is OK but as soon as I start a sketch or edit a sketch relared to my part everything else becomes transparent to a degree and every line & edge shows through. 2 hours ago this wasn't the case. The transparency stayed the same as it was in edit part mode. Any idea how to make this stop?

Can you show the FMT and open it to the right so we can see the display pane (the double chevrons)

  Absolutely. I know whatever I did, I did within the workspace and probably via a RMB. I have been switching back and forth (trans to not trans) on individual components in preparations to edit them or components around them all week long. I had been switching by using the icon. I didn’t change anything in options, appearances or with the expanded FMT that I know of. I have poked around in all those areas since the problem started but so far nothing I have changed has made a difference.
  
  These parts are in the top level assembly. Up at the top nothing shows up in any of the four columns of the expanded FMT.

Just to make sure you know what I'm after, here is a screen shot of the way I want things to look. This is still in edit part mode but not editing or adding a sketch.

  It looks like you are in Edit Component Mode, if you uncheck the Edit Component button in the ribbon bar you should get back to normal.

    Yes, I am in Edit Component Mode ( called it edit part mode, but I'm learning the right terminology ). I want to be, and one step further; I want to edit a sketch while in Edit Component Mode.
    Anyway, as stated below, all fixed now. I really appreciate you digging into this with me. Fortunately the fix hit me before you spent too much time on it. I don't know how many hours I've spent over the last couple months chasing down what I thought were SolidWorks problems only to figure out at the end that they were graphics card problems. One good thing is I do now know an awful lot about SW settings & options and how they have absolutely no impact whatsoever on a bad card.

You know what? Never mind. It just hit me that this might be related to a graphics card problem I have where my model will occasionally disappear. My work around for that problem is to toggle perspective view. I just did that toggle and sure enough, everything is right with the world again. This was never a problem or settings issue with SolidWorks to begin with.
My new replacement card is due in next week. Hard telling what other things will get fixed when the new card is in. the card has been bad from the start and so has my life with SolidWorks. I’ve never seen SolidWorks in a perfect world so I don’t always know what to recognize as a SW problem vs. a computer problem.

I didn't say that right. What I mean is I got this computer and my first SolidWorks at the same time. I've never seen SolidWorks on any other computer and this computer has had a bad card from the start.

I have different problem with transparency. When a cut is used on a model I can see through the planes.
I'm using Nvidia Quadro FX 1800 graphic card and Solidworks 2013.
I tried to update drivers but it didn't help.

Here are 2 pictures, the first one is bad and the second is how it sholud look like.

Does anyone know how to deal with this ?

  this is sometime caused by the cut making a small sliver face, you can see by the out line, there is a face there, but SW wigs and shows it clear.
  
  I have had this happen and what i do is roll bak to see what feature is causing this to happen. How to solve this it to play with the ordering of the features, though I don't know what it is you need from the pics you are showing, you may need to leave detail out and add after the cut, make a configuration to do this and use that to show, yes a work around, but this seldom happens.

    Thaks for your answer though I don't understand everythning you said due to my english. But something I did understand and it helped me to solve this. This transparency can be enabled or disabled in "CUT MENU".
    Here is a picture showing what has to be marked. It's in czech language but it's sufficient for the demonstration.

  I solved this problem already (as i wrote one post up). And it is not problem in assembly so I apologize for bad placement my comment here to assemblies.
