I went to replace a component in an assembly and before Solidworks would complete the operation, a message popped up saying "Replacing this component will create a Looping Assembly"
What in the world is a Looping Assembly?
Guess I'm digging up an old thread, but I just ran into this error today...
Looks like it could be related?
As did I but with the same error as the OP. Im surprised this problem still hasn't been figured out after 5 years
Is it possible that a "looping assembly" is the same as a circular reference? This would be attempting to place a new sub assembly in a top level assembly where one of the components of the subassembly is the top level assembly. We have that happen here when someone uses a top level shell as a reference part in a subassembly to locate the subassembly parts. Then the reference parts are hidden. Now someone comes along and attempts to place the subassembly in the shell and can't figure out why it doesn't work.
