How do I limit a sketch bend to one tab, I don't want it to carrying up into the area marked with the red arrow.
I wish I could but keep getting errors trying to post images and inserting files.

You could trim that area and then after you add the edge flange, add the material with an extrude.
If that doesn't work, then I would add a small slot bend relief cut just beyond the tab.

Thanks Alin I changed it from Bend Centerline to Material Outside and it worked.
Increase the relief so that the extents of the bend radius remain within the relief. If any portion of the bend radius extends beyond the relief, the bend will propagate to the other 'tab'.
Kelvin is right. Depending on the desired location of the bend, you might need to follow his advice.
