Making multiple sheet metal parts from one solid that fit each other?

Greeting gang,

I've been having trouble figuring how to make complex sheet metal parts.

When they can not be manufactured in one piece (or is very difficult to do in one piece) I want to break them up like attached example.

How I have been doing it is to do a sheet metal conversion on a couple of surfaces, then suppress that feature then convert the other faces.

The problem is with fitting consideration. Thickness of material of first sheetmetal part is ignored and the parts will not fit perfectly. I usually can make it work but .....
