Model sketches in drawings.  Bad practice?

I have a question of what was called bad practice when creating drawings.  Do you think it is "bad practice" to use the design tree sketches in a drawing?  I was told it is bad practice and that it is better to convert the sketches on the drawing and then hide the model sketches.  When I asked if the converted sketches updated with the model the response was not always.  Thoughts?  It feels like doubling up on work to create something that might not update only to create more work down the road.
