Methods to have multiple animations on the same assembly

So, currently you can only have 1 animation per SMG file, so how are people controlling multiple animations on the same product?

Here's the problem.  If you need to change how an actor looks, you have to change it on all the seperate SMG files, which can be very repetitive and time consuming depending on the complexity.

I always try to fix as much up front before making any new views, animations, or copies.  Once you seperate them though, you just know someone is going to ask you to change a transperancy or a color, or something like that?

Thoughts?
