I have just installed Solidworks 2012 SP 2.0 on my machine, but when I selected Workgroup PDM Vault Admin, it asked for a different serial key. Is this a new thing? I've never had to insert a different key in the past.
There are other serial no. keys if you have other services such as the Vault Viewer addon. There is an activation process in SW2012 for WPDM that was not required before. I'm told that it's only function is to provide a way for SW to see how many people are using WPDM.
Boy, just another way for big brother to track and try to sell EPDM. We are a small company (4 design engineers), and I came in as one, but got the manager impressed with revision control, and thought I would show him Workgroup PDM since they bought SW2012. I was able to get the vault loaded, but the admin side isn't in the Programs>SolidWorks> Workgroup PDM VaultAdmin.
I have contacted the VAR and hopefully he will get me some sort of answer.
I would talk to my VAR if I was having a problem like this. (Which I probably will when we get around to updating to SW2012.)
When you update SW to 2012, can you still run WPDM 2011 or later?
You will need to update WPDM to 2012 also. I have not had any problems with out-of-sync Service Packs, but the major releases do need to be the same.
Thanks. Just trying to find a work around to show the boss the advantages to PDM.
