I am trying to run Solidworks 2012 SP2 and it keeps asking for a license server. I have never needed on in the past. All the documentatuionsays to go to help activate. I can't get to Help if the softwarte does not start up.
Anybody have an idea?
You can go here http://help.solidworks.com/2012/English/SolidWorks/sldworks/r_welcome_sw_online_help.htm to access online help.
SW would ask for a license server if the serial number you used at install starts with 0010. Or if you have a stand-alone license but are using a network license for Simulation and you have the Simulation add-in checked to start every time you start SW.
That's all I can think of at this point.
It starts 9010
Hmm, I think that's a network license for 3DVIA Composer? A stand-alone SW license should start with 0000 I believe.
Is this an educational license?
If not, I would go to your SolidWorks Reseller and ask for help. This is just the type of thing they should be able to get squared away for you.
If it is an Educational seat get with the Help Desk at your university.
