Hi SolidWorks users,
Is there a way to add the screw size automaticaly in the hole callout in the drawing for a countersunk hole?
Right now, I add it manually...
FOR CSK #8 FLAT HEAD
I know this subject has been covered in other posts but I don't have links to any of them. In the SW help file search on Hole Callout. The "Hole Callouts" topic discusses that there is a text file that acts as the template for the callout text. You can edit this callout to include the screw size information along with a host of other related data.
Go to your model and edit this hole. I believe there is a spot in the property manager for the hole towards the
bottom that shows you the callout. Try adding it there. Then in your drawing in the annotations hole callout command
select the hole and the callout should appear.
I don't see what you are refering to in the property manager.
I think what you are refering to happens when we insert a cosmetic thread...
Thank you for your reply.
I have found the information in the help file.
I did the modification in the “calloutformat” file and it worked!
The line in blue (in the first image) has been added to the file.
You can see the results are in the second image...
Glad to see it worked out. Now I just need to get off my own duff and set ours up the same way!
Sweet, this is an added time saver. Makes the note more informative, works well.
Thanks for this bit of info.
I need to do this change also.
I could not see enough detail in your picture.
Can you tell me what the file was and where it is located (directory) so I can find it on my system.
I am new to SW and our company is switching from Autodesk Inventor to SW and I am in charge of the setup for everyone and want to get everyone using the same configurations.
Inventor has a feature like this built right into their hole configurations - easy to find.
Rick, If you click onto the picture, it gets larger. Copy and paste it into a word document, crop out what you do not need to see and enlarge the picture untill you can see enough detail. As far as finding the "calloutformat.txt" file, it can be located using window explorer.
I am new to Blogging and using this site so I have not learned the tricks and techniques yet.
Thanks for the file name update. I didn't know if it was a text file or some other format.
Attached is my modified calloutformat.txt file.
You can copy the file here:
C:\Program Files\SolidWorks Corp\SolidWorks\lang\english
Make sure you do a backup of the previous version of the file before you overwrite it.
This is going to make life much easier to keep everyone on one standard style.
I appreciate your help.
I was actually searching the blogs for this exact thing when I found yours.
Now I just need to decifer the <codes> and I will be all set.
Rick and Chad,
You don't need to copy and paste the image into another document to make it more readable. Just right click on it and open it in another window or another tab. You can usually get it to be readable there.
