Part Color Display in eDrawings

I am using Solidworks 2012 SP2 64bit and when I save my assembly to eDrawings it does not maintain the colors I have for my parts.

I always select a material type for my parts then go to the Display Manager tab on the browser, right clitk on the Appearance created for that material and select Edit Apearence then I change the color. I do not change the colors in the assembly I always do it in the part file.

I am consistent on how I do this but when my assemblies are saved to eDrawings format it will display some parts in the color I set but most show up in the standard color for the material which is usually a shade of grey for steel parts.

Any ideals on what I am doing wrong or why some parts keep their color and some do not?

I have the same problem, and change my color the same way.

My question is this. Is the video card and driver a factor in the creation of an eDrawings file?

My card is NOT approved Radeon HD 6850 with newest driver 8.850.0.0

I do basic machine design and yes I am a gamer also. This card is doing a good job in both worlds.

Also had the same problem using SW2009 sp0, eDrawings Pro and a ATI HD 3850 card.

Tony,

I setup my models the same exact way as you do.

Check out these settings in the edrawings and see if they make any difference.

First is a screen shot of frame with standard blue and orange colors.

This is a save as from 2011 eDrawings Pro sp5.

My question is why no color?

Thank You Kelvin Lamport. I was saving from SW.

I opened eDrawing Tools > Options > General > Performance and select Best appearance... and then > OK. Opened the old easm file and on change. Next I opened eDrawings, opened a SW file and did get color. Next saved file from eDrawings. Opened new easm file and have color.

Note: When I first opened eDrawings Tools > Options > General > Performance was grayed out so it looked like a dead end. I checked the Graphics boost box any way. The Best appearance... option was then available.

1) Open eDrawings

2) Open SW file

3) Save from eDrawings

It worked for me at least.

Good News should work in ver. 2014.

The following SPR (SolidWorks Performance Report) status has changed to Implemented.

SR# (Service Request): 1-2547909479

SPR#: 550544

Description: eDrawings does not display the colour from an assembly level.

Status: Implemented.

Version: none none

Now we will just have to wait and see just what WORKS.
