I am trying to create different configurations of the same part. I'm not removing anything just changing sizes. I created a new configuration and proceeded to start changine the dimensions and when i switched to back to the previous configuration it also changed. I've tried checking the "suppress features" in properties and still no luck.
Click on the feature in the FM tree to highlight all dimensions associated with it. RMB on the dimension and choose "configure dimension".
The "configure dimension" command is my favorite way to change configured dims and features. I consider this to be one of SW best additions.
While you're in there, you can hit the "rebuild all configurations" so everything gets the update. It will also highlight in red if there's any problems.

If all you are doing is chaning sizes what I would do is first rename the dimensions (i.e. d1@sketch1 to overall@sketch1).
Then create a design table to show all of the size changes for each configuration.
When you double click on the dimension to edit it for the new config, in the dimension modify box, on the lower right, there is a pull down menu. Check the one that says "this configuration only" The dimensions in the other configs will be un affected.
