I've very much new to solidworks but how do you move seperate assemblies? I have basically created two assemblies made up of parts that i merged together using 'mate'. I would like to be able to control them seperately rather than at the moment where both assembles rotate and move at the same time.

Delete or remove the mates in between and you be able to move them.
Does this fix the issues? If not then paste some pictures or files.

I basically want to be able to rotate and move one of the rows of blocks (parts) without moving the other.
Try "Fixing" the assembly that you do not want to move, then move the assembly you want to change. Then you can "Float" the assembly you "Fixed" if you want it to be able to move again.
