And you can set the decimal place using the precision BOM while using the equation option.

I don't know how to use value-based precision (which would be very cool), but you can override the precision of an entire column in a BOM:

Did you try going into tools>options>document properties>units and setting them there?

Als in the mass properties there is a units settings as well.
