Just like 3D Studio MAX can send a rendering job out to backburner and that software manages where each frame goes (CPU)
1 CPU is NOT EFFECTIVE in validating lots of items or big models..thanks and CHEERS
Do you want to distribute the FEA calculations across a farm of computers?
Unfortunately, that is not possible with SolidWorks FEA.
It's just after pouring out a lot of $$ that we usually found out how bad Solidworks works on fully utilizing computer power.
Seriously, using it since 2007, I don't think they did any change in the solver performance besides adding new functionality which is great, but now, we have been years into multi cpus... now multi cores... then GPGPU... so much power into our computers... completely wasted.
Thankfully, renderings are using full availibility of cpus.
Simulation uses multicores... but just not the all the solvers...
I've not had any issue with SWSim (2011 Premium) using all eight cores at its disposal in both linear-static or non-linear analyses.
Distributed parallel processing would be nice, submitted an ER a while ago, not expecting a quick fix though! Even having FlowSims ability to solve on a remote PC would be good, could sit at my crummy laptop and solve on the monster box on the other side of the office (again, submitted an ER).
