I have two seats on SolidWorks 2012. One is on a desktop and the other is on a laptop for portable use. The tutorials work fine on the desktop, however when I try to open any tutorial on the laptop seat, I get a raw XML file like the picture below. Can anyone help me fix this issue so that I am able to access the tutorials from the laptop? Thank you in advance for the help.
Yes, I use Internet Explorer on both machines and the Laptop was connected to the Internet when above screenshot was taken.

I have the same problem with my laptop (my only computer). It a Lenovo W520 64 bit running Windows 7. This thing has been a real pain. I have tried calling tech support from my company and tech support from our reseller. No luck so far. I need to get this working so I can get the tutorials done before my first class.

I'm not sure how much help I'll be but in our scenario we had to unfortunately reload Windows. I tried everything but to no avail. First I attempted a repair on Solidworks, no change. Then I reinstalled Solidworks because we had believed the tutorial files themselves may have been corrupted, still no change. I attempted to download microsoft html help.exe which is the program that reads the .chm files, this wouldn't install on Windows 7 (Failed with an install error). Finally I couldn't waste anymore time trying to fix this for an end-user so I bit the bullet and reloaded Windows. This did fix the issue obviously but I have no idea what caused it to be corrupted.

I'm still trying to work through this with tech support from our reseller and Solidworks Tech Support. We've tried a lot of things but no luck yet. I've rolled back to IE8. I already went through my Fundamentals I class but this has turned into a crusade. Onward we march. ;-)
Hopefully to conquest! The tech support provided from our reseller seems somewhat lacking. I believe everytime I have contacted them their only method for alleviating the issue is to attempt a repair. If the Solidworks repair doesn't fix the issue, they recommend a re-install and unfortunately that is their troubleshooting procedure for any Solidwork's issue. It's astonishing how many times I've re-installed Soldiworks. If you do figure this one out I'd love to know the solution.
Again, in our situation I had to do a reload of the entire system (Lenovo ThinkCentre D20). Just to give you an idea of the software installed and what versions, it is currently running:
Win 7 64-bit
Intel Xeon E5620 CPU
4GB Ram
Solidworks 2012 sp3 (This system may have been upgraded to sp4 but 3 was the latest release at the time of this issue)
Microsoft Office 2010 (We use 2003 in house, but had to move to 2010 because of issues with 2003 and Solidworks 2012)

I post back here when (if) the problem is resolved. Our reseller has been pretty thorough so far in looking for the problem. We've not given up yet and we're working through different items that could be causing the problem. It looks like a permissions issue but we've not been able to solve it yet. Reducing the level of security hasn't fixed it. We've changed a few settings and have tried some registry changes. I have admin privileges on my computer but I still seem to have some "accessibility" issues.

OK, I think I've got most of this figured out for my machine. In addition to the tutorial problem in Solidworks I was also having trouble printing content that was originating from the web. Stuff like boarding passes and just about anything else from the web. It would print out the web header and footer but the rest of the page would be blank. I searched google to find a fix for that problem and it fixed my tutorial problem in Solidworks in the process.
I had to re-associate .htm and .html files with Internet Explorer even though they were already associated with IE. I went to Control Panel/Default Programs and went down to "Associate a file type or protocol with a program", scrolled down to .htm and .html and changed the association to something other than IE, closed it, reopened it and changed them back to IE.
Then I went to Control Panel/Default Programs and went down to "Set program access and computer defaults" set it to "Microsoft Windows". On my computer it keeps reverting back to "Custom" but it doesn't seem to hurt it.
All of my tutorials are now viewable, no more html script. The only tutorial problem that I have is that you are supposed to be able to click on the button in the lesson in the right pane and it is supposed to show you where it is located in the Solidworks window, but that still doesn't work. It's not a huge deal.
I hope this half-solution works for someone else, too. Give it a try. It got me most of the way there.

Are you using the same Internet app on both machines?
Does the laptop have Internet connection?
