How can I change my systems dimension to Imperial? Do I need to reload the 2012 disk? My system was set to Imperial until I uploaded to 2012.
Are your system units set to IPS, see help file Here.
I can change only the document setting. If I click onto the system option, I do not have a units choice to change.
Did you happen to save your setting using the copy settings wizard?
If so just install those settings.
Units are not stored in the system settings and therefore won't be copied by the copy settings wizard.
Unit settings are document settings and for new documents, come from the template used to create a new document (part, assembly, or drawings). So, Ron needs to be sure to set up his document templates properly to have the correct units. In addition to the help topic that Troy references, this one is about Units in general:
And this one (and the ones near it in the table of contents) is about document templates:
I hope this helps,
My system used to default to imperial dimensions until I loaded the 2012 version. I didnt have the option when I loaded this disk for chosing any units, like I had in the past.
Everytime I open a new document now, I have to make the unit change. Its getting fustrating!!!
I'm sure its an easy fix.
Thank for the help!!!
Sounds like your part and assembly templates got updated. Update and save the templates with the setting you want to use.
I went to a class at our VAR on Friday found about this handy little feature in SW2012.
You can click on it to change units instead of going through Options.
