2) not that I know of - and I don't think I have ever seen that, not sure how it would look/function.
1. Can you convert a projected view into a section view?
Yes ... sort of. You can cheat and create a Broken-out Section of the whole view.
2. Can you add section arrows to a broken out view? (I have seen the post about using an aligned section view this is not what I want)
Yes ... What happened, or what error message did you get, when you tried?
1.) You can't convert, but what you can do is draw a line through the mother view
and that project that view. That line can also be moved outside of the mother view to look like a normal projected view.
2.) Yes, Like Kelvin said how did you try it and what happened?
If you were to post some images that would help.
Add a section view with the section line where you want it.
Slide the view off the page.
Add a projected view then add the broken out section.
There's no magic that keeps the shown broken section in the same spot as the section line but it gets the views on page the way you want them.
yeah that works, but maybe a partial section would be more correct? it would likely mean 1 more view though...
Jeremy you are correct, ASME Y14.3 2003 states a broken out view does not indicate a cutting plane. I would rather just make it clear for the machinist without having to add an extra view. Thanks again!
