So I'm making flat patterns for some sheet metal parts and I am including sketches on them that are used as alignment for the fabricators. The problem is, ALL the sketches in the part come through, even if they're hidden. Sure, I can delete them in AutoCAD, but I'm looking for a simpler, less error prone method. If I make a drawing, and then hide bend lines and sketches, that works, but it's one more step. It would be nice if the "Export to DXF/DWG" option in SW2012 gave you a way to only export the visible sketches. Ideas?
So I've found that if I make a cut extrude with the sketch I want, it will come through to AutoCAD. Take the etch/bend lines I need, offset them .00001 bi-directional, make base sketch construction, cap the ends, and I can just export the face I want. This is nice, as the micro cut comes into AutoCAD and our nesting program as a single line. This is good, as it can cut laser time in half. Easiest way, yet. This is also done in the flat pattern.
