I do a lot of sheetmetal drawings. One of the biggest problems is filling in the Sheetmetal Parameters (GA, Thickness, Radius, Bend Deduction, etc) automatically onto the drawings. I cannot find these links to add to the drawing fromat. Any ideas?
I talked with Fred of Mcad in Lakewood. He came up with this solution to get the parameters from the sheetmetal part onto the drawing automatically. It will bring in Thickness, Bend Radius and K-Factor. (sorry not bend Deduction).
In the part file, go to File/Properties.../Custom and add the following properties here:
Property Name Value/Text Expression
Thickness Select Thickness from pull down menu
Radius Type in "D1@Sheet-Metal1"
K-Factor Type in "D2@Sheet-Metal1"
In the drawing, go to Edit Sheet Format and link these by adding a note (A) and then clicking on the Link to Propery button under Text Format. Select the dot Model in view specified in sheet properties , then the down arrow, click on the property you want to link.
Make sure the Tools/Options/Units is set to 3 decimal places in both part and drawing files.
Good Luck. I wish Solid Works would let us bring in any parameter we set!
