See, that's where I run into trouble. Our item master is
stored in this software called Baan, which does work orders,
routers and the like and there's a whole slew of criteria a
component has to meet in order to get a new part number. I've got
some flexibility when it comes to models, but none with drawing
numbers.
1)Insert a top level bom and split off the segments that aren't relavent to the current sheet. Rinse and repeat for remaining sheets
2)sub-divide the assembly into configurations-each with it's irrelevant components either supproessed or excluded (this approach has the advantage of allowing you multiple explode steps)
3)subdivide the assembly into subassemblies(this approach spares you the pain of running exlusion passes on every component in every configuration)
With each method, I've had to do a lot of side stepping and part-list overriding to get the item numbers to sequence correctly and not show duplicates.
I wanted to sollicit general comments and suggestions on breaking a bom across multiple sheets.
Thanks
