You're not necessarily doing anything wrong. When you create a new standard you should do it via the Edit Standards Data dialog in Tools > Options. This will create a new database called whatever you named it plus a .mdb extension. You can edit that database directly from Edit Standards Data, but you should be able to do a wholesale edit using Excel. See my post entitled "IMPORT not working when editing standards data". What you would like to do can at least be theoretically accomplished very easily by exporting the standards data for your hardware into spreadsheet format, editing it as a spreadsheet (to add the nomenclature you want) and then re-importing it into the standards data. The problem with 2005 is that the Import function apparently doesn't work -- a real travesty. If it works in 2006 you have a very powerful tool at your disposal.
