Does anyone know of any API fundamentals classes coming up? Our local VARS either do not offer it or do not have an AE that can teach it, so we are looking at other options.
How far are you from Chicago, Atlanta, and Boston? If you can give us those three distances we can triangulate your position... that might help us know if a class can be found near you.
We are in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Traveling isn't an issue, I've found a few classes coming up in the Chicago area that might work unless they get canceled.
Teaching API is just not a priority for most VARs. They prefer simple, basic classes with full rooms of empty minds.
I was put on the wait list for API class at local VAR in 2001. I finally got a call in 2004, when they finally scheduled a class. By then, I was qualified to teach it.
That does seem to be the case, the few that seem to get scheduled are consistently canceled.
You may want to just get a book on the subject and DIY. I hear that Luke Malpass has some decent books on the API over at AngelSix http://www.angelsix.com/store/index.php?dispatch=categories.view&category_id=165
I used to teach the API Fundamentals class for a reseller in the Great Lakes region. As Roland pointed out, its not a high priority so we rarely offered it and mostly because I pushed for it.
Hopefully www.cadsharp.com will alleviate some of the difficulties with getting beginner-friendly, in-depth API training. Check out our latest blog post for a coupon as well.
