Hi every one,
We would like to do an FEA of a tin coated brass component. Is it possible to find the behavior of the coated tin at given pressure and temperature ?
You could try creating a surface offset for the tin - assign it as Shell elements for the tin and bond it to the brass...
My doubt is i want to know, after applying particular temperature and pressure over the coating i have to find out whether the coating will tear off or it will withstand? how to anaylze it. As we are applying bonding whether it is possible to check that? or is there any other method?
Then you are asking for something very difficult to achieve... when in doubt - test
I think you need to physically prototype this.
A rudimentary approach might be to bend strips of material until the coating fails, then measure the bend geometry to calculate the failure conditions. You could then just run FEA on a brass model and infer coating performance based on the results.
