I am trying to make section out of a top view.
The result: a front view !???
Can someone help me with this please?
See section V-V in attached image.
It's in solidworks 2012...
First guess is check the section cut is referenceing the right view. Lock the focus on the view you want to section before drawing your section line.
I locked the focus and it did not change nothing...
This isn't likely any of the usual settings. May I suggest contacting your VAR to report this. They can determine if it is intended behavior (some setting) or if it is a possible bug.
I just imported another assembly model view and the section worked on it, so there must be something wrong in the original assembly view???
Welcome to the forum.
I can't tell from your image but the view appears to be the correct view and orientation.
Meaning it can resemble the front view, but if you look closely you should see hatching along the walls.
If you can post a close up image of the walls that would show it.
I agree that the orientation is correct. I checked closely and there is absolutely no hatching. I can assure you that section V-V is showing the exact same view as front view while it should show inside the controller... That is very bizarre.
Ok, I believe you. I had to bring it up based on I couldn't see accurately in your image.
Based on your previous posting it sounds like this might be a quark in this drawing.
You could also try running the Solidworks Rx tool and see if that shows anything.
