I borrowed a license from the network license server (SW 2012 SP1.0, x64) but when I try to launch SW off of the network, I get the error  "Could not obtain a license for SolidWorks Standard.  Server node is down or not responding. (-96,491,0)

Do I need to connect to a VPN or something?  I thought the whole idea of using the borrowing feature was so that I didn't have to connect to the network?  Thanks in advance.
